Current PORTERGROUP V8 Ute Rookie of the Year Alexandra Whitley has confirmed she is coming back for a title shot this season.

She is familiar with the Holden model having raced one under the wing of experienced engineer Jake Stoneman successfully last season.  As well as being Rookie of the Year and the series only female racer, Whitley took a string of solid results and almost won her first race in the final round of the championship last season at Pukekohe before being taken out while in the lead.

Already making headway on securing a solid sponsorship package for the season ahead, Whitley is in no doubt about what she wants to achieve in what is one of the most competitive series in New Zealand. “Last year was a big learning year for me and I made some solid gains with every round,” she explained.

“I’m coming back to give the top drivers in the series a run for their money and to have a legitimate shot at the PORTERGROUP V8 Utes national title. I feel I am more than ready and am looking forward to it with great excitement. It’s fabulous to be a woman racing in that series, but everyone will be aware of the efforts going on in the country right now through Women in motorsport to encourage more to come into the sport and I’d love to have a female rival in the V8 Utes as well!”

The PORTERGROUP V8 Utes begins its 12th season over the weekend of 7-9 December at Pukekohe Park Raceway before moving to Highlands Motorsport Park in Cromwell in January, then to the New Zealand Grand Prix meeting in February before the season finale at Hampton Downs in March.
