Paul ‘Auto’ Manuell masters Manfeild qualifying

Paul ‘Auto’ Manuell has taken an impressive pole position for the first race of the third round of the NZ V8 Utes Series at Manfeild Circuit Chris Amon. The SuperFreight Holden racer outgunned series leader Matt ‘Stinger’ Spratt with a mega lap on only his second flying lap.

Spratt recorded the second fastest time, 0.463s off pole.  In typical V8 Utes fashion, the fast lap times were set early on in the 20-minute session whilst the tyres were still at their optimal temperature and pressures.

Andrew ‘Hireman’ Porter will start his Porter Group Commodore on the second row of the grid from third place alongside Glen ‘Coyote’ Collinson in fourth in his DNA Paints Falcon. Local circuit expert Geoff ‘SOS’ Spencer will start fifth in his Holden, with fast lady Alexandra ‘Skippy’ Whitley sixth in her LDV Vans Holden. Peter ‘Kaos’ Ward continued his good season form with seventh fastest in his Ward Demolition Commodore.

Brett ‘The Scud’ Rudd, ‘Dirty’ Dave Kernohan and Simon ‘Bandit’ Ussher round out the top ten with Jeff Kernohan, newbie Stu Monteith and David Lowe finishing 11th, 12th and 13th respectively for Saturday afternoon’s first race of the weekend.
