A multiple shunt on the first corner turned the race on its head in the second encounter of the PORTERGROUP V8 Utes at the Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park, with reigning champion Richard 'Danger' Moore surviving the challenge in his Mitre 10 Trade Racing Holden to take the win.

The full reverse grid got away with little drama, but when  Sam 'Sammy' Fillmore in the Alliance Holden and Simon 'The Bandit' Usher in the United Freight Ford Falcon touched, it triggered multiple contact, with the utes of Filmore, Jeff' Ripples' Kernohan, Geoff 'SOS' Spencer, Ussher and Jason 'Mario' Land all sustaining damage and only Land able to continue.

Danny 'The Menace' Stutterd emerged out front, with Richard Moore in second having survived a near spin in the pile up, with Glen 'Coyote' Collinson popping up an astonishing third after taking the inside line across the grass to avoid the traffic jam. Chris 'Hammertime' Hanley was another lucky survivor, having stalled the Placemakers Ford on the line and avoided any contact at all in the shunt after a delayed getaway. It was all enough to bring out a race stoppage for the mess to be cleaned up.

With the debris cleared the remaining utes got underway and Moore had to stalk Stutterd for a lap or two before making a lovely move down the inside of the challenging sweeper before the long back straight. He was quickly followed by Collinson who then set off after Danger in his Panorama Motorsport DNA Paints FG Ford. Paul 'Auto' Manuell was next through on Stutterd as he fell prey to the faster runners.

As in race 1 on Saturday the leader was unable to get away from the Collinson Ute and the two traded fastest lap times again as they duelled it out in the shortened race. IN the end there was nothing Collinson could do and it was the reigning champ who opened his win account of the new season with victory. Saturday winner Paul 'Auto' Manuell took a solid third.

Andrew 'Hireman' Porter claimed fourth, while an impressive Hanley clawed his way back through the field to take fifth place and keep his challenge alive. Alexandra 'Skippy' Whitley once again keeping her nose clean and showing great pace to take sixth whilst 'Dirty' Dave Kernohan was a solid sixth.

Stutterd, Conal Dempsey in the Ryco 82C Ford, Jason Land in his hastily patched up Betta Autoparts Ford completed the field.
